Cordyceps ophioglossoides (Ehrh.) Link The club shaped upper part is dull reddish-brown darkening with age, developing from a yellow stem. The mycelium is yellowish wrapped around an Elaphomyces species normally about 5 cm underground. The spores are thread like and segmented 150-200 x 2 µ. Fairly common but often missed. Found in both Europe and North America. Thanks to Miroslaw Wantoch-Rekowski who sent me these terrific pictures from Poland.
